Cavendish Beach
Cavendish · Canada
The short version, from the cited sources
Cavendish Beach pairs Prince Edward Island's signature landscape elements: sandstone cliffs and dunes tinted red by iron oxide, and some of the warmest salt water north of the Carolinas, moderated by the shallow Gulf of St. Lawrence. The beach lies within Prince Edward Island National Park beside the farmhouse that inspired Anne of Green Gables, which made this coast a literary destination as much as a swimming one.
