North America · Illustrated record
Cockleshell Bay
Saint Kitts · Saint Kitts and Nevis
The short version, from the cited sources
Cockleshell Bay lies on St Kitts' narrow southeast peninsula, a long Atlantic-facing stretch of sand separated from the lusher volcanic north of the island by dry salt-pond scrubland. Nevis Peak rises directly across the two-mile-wide Narrows strait, giving the beach one of the most recognizable island backdrops in the Eastern Caribbean.
