Diamond Beach (Fellsfjara)

Iceland

The short version, from the cited sources

Diamond Beach is the black volcanic strand at the outlet of Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon in southeast Iceland, where icebergs calved from Breidamerkurjokull wash ashore and lie on the dark sand like cut glass. The ice, some of it centuries old, is polished clear by the surf before melting away, and no two hours on the beach look alike. It is a photography site above all; the surf, current and ice make the water strictly off-limits.
