Europe · Illustrated record
Djupalonssandur
Snaefellsbaer · Iceland
The short version, from the cited sources
A cove of black lava pebbles on the Snaefellsnes peninsula, worn round and glossy by the sea. Rusted iron ribs of the British trawler Epine, wrecked here in 1948, still lie among the stones and are left in place as a memorial.
