Haeundae Beach
Busan · South Korea
The short version, from the cited sources
Haeundae is Korea's most famous beach, the mile-long centrepiece of Busan where summer weekends are measured in hundreds of thousands of visitors and ordered grids of parasols became a national image. The beach fronts a skyline of high-rises and hosts festivals from sand art in June to the polar swim in winter, with the BIFF film-festival city's energy behind it. It is East Asia's definitive urban beach scene.
