Kaanapali Beach
Lahaina · United States
The short version, from the cited sources
Kaanapali is a long resort beach on Maui's leeward west coast, developed in the early 1960s as one of the first master-planned resort shorelines in the United States. A continuous beachwalk links hotels along miles of sand, with snorkelling concentrated at Puu Kekaa, the black lava point at its northern end, where a nightly torch-lighting and cliff-dive ceremony recalls the site's cultural significance.
