Long Beach (Tofino)
Tofino · Canada
The short version, from the cited sources
Long Beach is the longest open shore on Vancouver Island's outer coast, a wide sweep of surf-swept sand inside Pacific Rim National Park Reserve between Tofino and Ucluelet. It made Canada an improbable surfing nation: cold-water surfers in thick wetsuits work its beach breaks year-round, and winter storm-watching is a season of its own. Old-growth rainforest presses directly to the sand line, and the area lies within the traditional territory of the Nuu-chah-nulth.
