Matira Beach
Vaitape · French Polynesia
The short version, from the cited sources
Matira is the public beach of Bora Bora and often called the finest in the South Pacific: a long point of powder-white sand at the island's southern tip, sloping into a lagoon whose warm, waist-deep water runs gin-clear over sand for hundreds of metres. Mount Otemanu's volcanic tooth rises behind, completing the archetype of the Polynesian lagoon. Nearly all of Bora Bora's non-resort beach life concentrates here.
