Muizenberg Beach
Cape Town · South Africa
The short version, from the cited sources
Muizenberg, on the warmer False Bay side of the Cape Peninsula, is where South African surfing began and remains one of the world's best places to learn: a flat, sandy bottom and long, soft waves in water far milder than the Atlantic beaches minutes away. Its row of brightly painted Victorian bathing boxes is a Cape Town icon, and shark spotters on the mountainside above operate a flag system that has become a model studied worldwide.
