Asia · Illustrated record
My Khe Beach
Da Nang · Vietnam
The short version, from the cited sources
My Khe fronts the city of Da Nang with kilometres of fine pale sand, known to a generation of American soldiers as China Beach, the in-country R&R shore of the Vietnam War. Today it is central Vietnam's confident urban beach: dawn exercise crowds, basket boats, a growing surf scene in the winter swell season and the Marble Mountains closing the southern view. International rankings routinely place it among Asia's best city beaches.
