Barceloneta Beach
Barcelona · Spain
The short version, from the cited sources
Barceloneta is Barcelona's front-door beach, a strand largely engineered for the 1992 Olympics that turned an industrial waterfront into one of the world's most used urban shores. Between the old fishing quarter's grid and Frank Gehry's golden fish sculpture, the sand fills with a density and diversity few beaches match. It is a city plaza that happens to meet the Mediterranean, with everything good and chaotic that implies.
