North America · Illustrated record
Playa Delfines
Cancun · Mexico
The short version, from the cited sources
Playa Delfines is the last great undeveloped beach of Cancun's hotel zone: a high dune overlook, the much-photographed colored CANCUN sign, and a broad public strand with no resorts directly behind it. The open Caribbean here carries real surf and regular flag warnings, unlike the lagoon-calm beaches farther north. It is where Cancun's local families go, which gives it a different character from the rest of the strip.
