Baia do Sancho
Fernando de Noronha · Brazil
The short version, from the cited sources
Baia do Sancho on the volcanic archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, far off Brazil's northeast coast, has repeatedly been voted the best beach in the world in large travel polls. Access is deliberately difficult: visitors descend ladders bolted through a cliff crevice, and the surrounding marine national park enforces visitor fees, capacity limits and strict wildlife rules. The reward is oceanic water of exceptional clarity shared with turtles, rays and reef fish, beneath cliffs ringed by nesting seabirds.
