Sarakiniko
Milos · Greece
The short version, from the cited sources
Sarakiniko on Milos is barely a beach in the conventional sense: wind and waves have polished white volcanic ash stone into a lunar landscape of smooth ridges and inlets, with only a small pocket of sand at the water's edge. The absence of vegetation and the glare of the pale rock against deep blue water have made it the Cyclades' most distinctive shore and a fixture of Greek tourism photography. Swimmers enter from the rock shelves and a narrow inlet.
