La Pelosa
Stintino · Italy
The short version, from the cited sources
La Pelosa at Sardinia's northwest tip is the island's most famous water: a lagoon-flat shallow of pale turquoise stretching toward the Aragonese watchtower on its islet, with the wild Asinara island closing the horizon. Its fame nearly destroyed it; the fine sand was leaving on towels and feet, so entry is now capped by daily reservation in season, towels require mats, and smoking is banned on the sand. It is the test case for managed access to a fragile famous beach.
