Trunk Bay
Saint John · U.S. Virgin Islands
The short version, from the cited sources
Trunk Bay is the showpiece beach of Virgin Islands National Park on Saint John, a bright arc of white sand and turquoise water that appears constantly in Caribbean photography. Its underwater snorkel trail, marked with interpretive plaques along a shallow reef, was an early experiment in marine interpretation and remains the beach's defining feature. National park management keeps development to a minimum behind the sand.
