Wasaga Beach
Wasaga Beach · Canada
The short version, from the cited sources
Wasaga Beach on Ontario's Georgian Bay is commonly cited as the longest freshwater beach in the world, roughly fourteen kilometres of shallow, warm sand flats within a provincial park. The gentle gradient lets swimmers wade far out into Georgian Bay's clear water, and the beach has been a summer resort for Toronto-area families for over a century. Dunes behind the strand protect nesting habitat for the endangered piping plover.
