Asia · Illustrated record
Yalong Bay
Sanya · China
The short version, from the cited sources
Yalong Bay is the premier beach of Hainan, China's tropical island province: a seven-kilometre crescent of pale sand and clear, usually calm water east of Sanya, developed as the country's flagship resort shore. The bay's water clarity and sand quality are markedly better than the older city beaches nearby, which is why China's luxury beach tourism concentrated here. It is the standard image of the Chinese tropics.
